Instruments T-shirt

So a friend of mine, Simon aka. ~Chaosbrazer on dA wanted me to make some tshirt designs for a business he and his friends want to start.

They wanted the designs to have a musical theme. One of the concerns they had when I showed them this design is that people may not be able to identify it as a musical note. So that's why I'm posting it here. Did you guys instantly recognize it as a musical note? And is recognizable from far away?

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could comment on those things. And just general criticism is ofcourse as always very much appreciated!
